OUR STORY

Archimedes International School (Formerly AL-Barakha Int. School) was founded in August 1992 by the late Mr. A S M Khan, a Sri Lankan sporting legend who recognized an urgent need for an English Medium oriented school of International Standard in the cool climes of Bandarawela. It was also the only all English based educational institution in the Uva Province at that time.

Right from inception priority was given to establishing a very high standard of education by enrolling well qualified and highly motivated teachers, Principals and Administrative staff.

The urgent need for this type of school in the region was proven by the fact that during the 1st year alone student enrollment rose to 118 with classes up to Grade 6.

Today, in its 30th year, Archimedes International boasts a student body of almost 500, with Local English Medium syllabus up to G.C.E Advanced Level and also up to IGCSE (London) Advanced level.

Situated within walking distance from Bandarawela Town, Archimedes International School is now the first choice for discerning parents looking for high standards in English Education living in and around Bandarawela.
